Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) – Uptown Guelph Dental

Uptown Guelph Dental supports the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) for patient coverage.

At Uptown Guelph Dental, we are proud to be a participating provider in the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). This federal program was created to help Canadian residents without dental insurance access essential oral health services. If your household income is below $90,000 annually, you may qualify for reduced-cost dental care through this plan.

The CDCP is not free dental care; instead, it covers a portion of your treatment costs, making high-quality dentistry more affordable and accessible for families and seniors in our Guelph community.

Who Is Eligible for CDCP?

You may qualify for CDCP if you meet all of the following:

  • You are a Canadian resident (for tax purposes).
  • You filed a tax return for the previous year.
  • Your adjusted family net income (AFNI) is less than $90,000.
  • You do not have access to private dental insurance benefits.

Age groups included:

  • Children under 18
  • Seniors aged 65 and older
  • Persons with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate
  • Uninsured adults aged 18–64, effective May 1, 2025

Income-Based Coverage & Co-Payments

CDCP uses a tiered system based on your AFNI (Adjusted Family Net Income) to determine what portion of eligible dental service fees the plan covers.

AFNI CDCP Covers You Pay (Co-Payment)
Lower than $70,000
100% of eligible oral health care service costs will be covered at the CDCP established fees.
0% of the CDCP established fees. You may face additional charges as described below.
Between $70,000 and $79,999
60% of eligible oral health care service costs will be covered at the CDCP established fees.
40% of the CDCP established fees. You may face additional fees as described below.
Between $80,000 and $89,999

Additional charges

The CDCP fees may not be the same as what providers charge. You may have to pay fees in addition to the potential co-payment if:

  • the cost of your oral health care services is more than what the CDCP will reimburse for these services
  • you and your oral health provider agree to services that the CDCP doesn’t cover

Before receiving oral health care, you should always ask your oral health provider about any costs that won’t be covered by the plan. Make sure you know what you’ll have to pay directly to your oral health provider before accepting and receiving treatment.
